Giving something back, our charity partnerships!

Giving something back, our charity partnerships!

At Create Gift Love we have nominated the local Dorset charity Mosaic to be our charity of the year. When deciding who to support we wanted to contribute towards an organisation that was lesser known and one where we could help to raise their profile. Mosaic helps to support bereaved children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or loved one through suicide, murder, terminal illness and sudden or traumatic death.

Prior to the formation of Mosaic, support for child bereavement services in Dorset was extremely limited. Whilst local hospice care recognises the need for family support pre-death, these services do not usually extend to post death for reasons other than terminal illness. Founded in June 2007, Mosaic was created by Margaret Hannibal who has recently been awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours List 2015.

Mosaic offers a variety of activities for children to escape their everyday life such as their twice yearly residential weekends. The children can take part in a variety of fun team building exercises as well as having the opportunity to meet other children going through a similar situation.

So as part of our contribution to supporting Mosaic we have mapped out a list of exciting fundraising activities for the year ahead! To kick it all off we took part in our very own 'Bake Off' in light of the return of The Great British Bake Off to our screens. As you can see below it was a great turn out, from Coffee and Walnut Cake to Banana Loaf to Chocolate Sponge to Brownies, we definitely enjoyed the taste testing. As a result we raised £109 in total which was a great start to our campaign.

We are also set to take part in 'Super Hero Day' where we get to don our favourite superhero attire for a small donation as well as various running and sporting activities.

We are also long term members of The Woodland Trust, the UK's largest woodland conservation charity. Since most of our raw material comes from trees we feel it is our duty to protect and sustain our eco-system.  As members we are helping to campaign to protect precious ancient woods, restore the ones that are damaged and fight for those under threat. We also help to create new native woodland around the UK with the help of communities, schools, organisations and individuals.

It feels good to be giving something back so we hope we inspire others to do the same, as we believe it's our social responsibility to take action! We'd love to know what you do for charity and how it makes you feel to 'give something back'.
