A day in the life of a real prize draw winner's wedding
Our wedding was Monday 25th July 2016 at The Vu, Bathgate.
Tell us about your venue and why you decided upon that location?
The Vu is a beautiful venue which is specifically hired for weddings. We got married in the Waterlily Room which has a beautiful, modern aesthetic with full length glass panel windows looking out over the water. After viewing it on an open day we fell in love with absolutely everything about it, we were planning to book a 2017/18 date however they were completely full. Feeling impatient we decided to look at 2016 dates, as fate would have it they had received a cancellation for the 25th July, the date Ryan and I first got together, so we settled upon this day.
What was your colour theme/styling like on the day?
Our colour scheme was champagne, grey and blush pink with a hint of gold. I created lanterns filled with flowers for our centrepieces and I also had wooden name places for our guests, that was before we won our beautiful Wedding Styling Package. When I found out I had been selected as the winner it was an amazing feeling since the package fitted in beautifully with our vintage/floral theme.
How did you go about doing your research into wedding planning?
I mostly used Pinterest and Instagram. I'm a rather visual person so found these to be a great tool for wedding planning and pinning ideas. With not having long to plan, just 6 short months, we already had a few ideas in the pipeline.
Tell us about THE dress!
My dress was a little different. It was a Sottero & Midgley dress, with champagne tulle and beautiful lace underneath. The top half of my dress had a rather vintage feel to it which sealed the deal and made me fall in love with it. The detail included beautiful leaf patterned lace with lots of sparkle, the dress was completely me and suited my style.
How did you hear about Create Gift Love?
I had seen Create Gift love pop up on both my Instagram and Facebook feeds. I stopped and took notice of them when I saw the stunning wedding styling photos.
Tell us about the entry you submitted for the Wedding Package competition.
My entry included a collage of photos of my handmade wedding items. This included flowers which I then made into bouquets, lanterns, personalised coat hangers and my headpiece. I also took a selfie of myself of the day I collected my dress from the bridal shop. I then tagged Create Gift Love into all of my other wedding prep that I posted onto Instagram too.
What was your favourite item from the Wedding Package and why?
It's so hard to choose, the Table Plan was beautiful and it shall forever be a keepsake too. However, the personalised Favour Coasters were just the perfect touch. Absolutely all of our guests commented on how unique they were and not one of the coasters was left at the end of the night. They were the perfect complement to the wedding breakfast and even better that they could be put to good use after the big day.
